Biography
BA Mathematics, Texas Tech University, 2000
MNS Mathematics, Arizona State University, 2002
I became an artichoke in 2005 and never looked back. During my time here, I have worked with my colleagues to develop what is now our online and hybrid math program here at SCC. I have written and co-authored OER materials and workbooks which are being used at SCC, across the district, state, and nationwide.
I am currently serving in the following roles at SCC:
- Tri-Chair for SCC’s Guided Pathways Steering Committee
- Chair of SCC’s Developmental Education Committee
- Strategic Liaison: Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering (MCSE)
- Director of the SCC Math Center
- Course Coordinator: MAT114
But to answer the question, “What do I do?”…I teach. I enjoy teaching in-person, hybrid, and online classes, ranging from Basic Arithmetic through Calculus. I love working with students, watching them succeed and move toward their goals. I see my class as one step in each student’s journey. I try to push each student to get connected to the resources and opportunities within their Field of Interest (FOI), building the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind that will help them to be successful in a competitive workforce.
