Biography
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when one contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day.” -- Albert Einstein
I have been teaching science for over 30 years now and thoroughly enjoy doing so! I attended college first at the University of California Santa Barbara, moved to the University of California San Diego, and did my graduate work at the University of Arizona. Along the way I earned a Bachelors degree in Bioengineering and a Master's Degree in Public Health – Epidemiology. Over the years I've been lucky to have had the opportunity to help so many students rekindle or advance their interest in science - including via courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering! I've had the privilege to work with bioengineering researchers in the Veterans Hospital, in the waters of the Pacific Ocean with Oceanographers, and with many students here in Arizona on all kinds of crazy science projects, internships, and various National Science Foundation projects and educational initiatives.
I'm glad you'll be in my class, and I hope that you'll come to see why I believe that the scientific process of finding answers is a critical part of education that not only helps people reach academic success and make positive life choices, but also reinforces the joy in discovering all the wonders that surround us! After taking one of my classes, I truly hope that you'll see the world in a whole new way.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it's the courage to continue that counts.” -Churchill
