Biography
I hold a B.S. in Biology from the University of South Dakota and an M.S. in Plant Biology from Arizona State University. My PhD work, though far from finished, is in Evolutionary Biology. I also have professional interests in science pedagogy and in creating classrooms and curricula that are accessible, inclusive, and equitable. I am especially interested in improving accessibility and outcomes for non-traditional students, marginalized populations, and those who have been historically under-represented in STEM fields.
I've been adjunct faculty for Maricopa since 2011 and absolutely love being a part of the community college system. Scottsdale Community College has been my adjunct "home" since 2014. My full-time day job is at Arizona State University's Downtown campus, where I manage all the science teaching labs and the instructors who teach in them! It's a wonderful position, and I'm doubly fortunate to be able to continue teaching at SCC in the fields that I love.
