Professional Background
I was originally born and raised in Scottsdale, but with a husband serving as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, enjoyed an around the world adventure for 24+ years. We enjoyed assignments in Texas, Japan, North Carolina, California, Germany, Washington, D.C., Nebraska, and Virginia. Upon his retirement my husband fulfilled his promise we would return to Arizona, and we now reside in our Scottsdale "forever home."
I graduated with a bachelors in accounting from the University of Arizona. After the undergrad years I began working as an auditor for Ernst & Young. During this time I sat for and passed the Certified Public Accountants exam, earning my certification license. I left Ernst & Young when we moved to the Tokyo area where I worked as the Accounting Manager for the Pacific Stars and Stripes, a newspaper serving the military around the Pacific region. I decided to leave public accounting and be a stay at home for our two boys (now adults!). During that time away from the profession I completed two graduate degrees: earning a masters in public administration from the University of Oklahoma and a masters of science in accounting from the University of Phoenix.
Shortly after our second son was born I returned to work as faculty teaching accounting courses. I fell in love with teaching and have continued doing so for the past 20+ years at Sandhills Community College (Pinehurst, North Carolina), University of Maryland Global Campus, Northern Virginia Community College, Metropolitan Community College (Omaha, Nebraska), and now back to my roots at Scottsdale Community College. I look forward to continuing work with students, giving them the accounting knowledge upon which to base a successful career!
